A little about me…

When I was eleven, my father cut a quote by movie producer and director George Lucas out of the news paper and gave it to me. It said, “If you can tune into the fantasy life of an 11-year-old girl, you can make a fortune in this business.” A few decades later, I still think about that quote all of the time. And I still have that clipping.

Much of my heart artwork is based on what I wanted to create when I was a kid, but didn’t have the skill set to do so. I have always loved stories and storytelling. As I grew up, I was torn between visual art and acting. I eventually went on to be an actor for several years, doing theatre regionally, Off-Broadway, and on Broadway. I got tired of starving myself in my thirties, and left acting, becoming a floral designer.

When I got pregnant during the pandemic, I rediscovered my love of visual art. I had always wanted to try watercolor, but it scared me. It’s a little unpredictable. I figured the pandemic was the best time to give it a shot. My first watercolor painting was a fox for my son’s nursery. The name of the painting is “Guardian”- this guy right here.

I was hooked. My husband gifted me a watercolor class and I couldn’t stop. I didn’t have room for all of my paintings, so with some direct pressure from friends and family, I started doing shows.

Sometimes it is difficult to find a moment here and there to paint, but I make do with my little basement studio/ playroom. I love doing shows because I like to chat and will talk to just about anyone. This is hilarious to me because I used to hate talking to people I didn’t know. I’m not sure what changed.

I hope you enjoy my work- that it tells you a little story and it brings you a little joy.
